What are the possible complications?

Complications are very rare. Some low intensity, low abdominal, cramping pain is expected as well as mild vaginal bleeding for the first few days.

The bleeding should be like a regular period and gradually decrease as the days go by. Vaginal bleeding can last up to a week while abdominal discomfort improves within 1-2 days and is easily dealt with mild analgesics.

Very rarely a hole can be made in the wall of the uterus requiring a short hospital admission as a precautionary measure. Even more rarely it can cause infection of the uterus.
