Katerina graduated from the Department of Biology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2023. During her studies, she specialized in Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Biotechnology. Her undergraduate thesis focused on studying the antimicrobial activity of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) against pathogens, investigating possible synergistic effects, and determining the antimicrobial action of the fatty acid mixture produced by the probiotic L. lactis.
In the same year, she completed her internship at the “Theageneio” Anti-Cancer Hospital, focusing on cytology, where she worked with molecular diagnostic techniques for infections, including HPV detection.
Since 2025, she holds a Master’s degree in “Precancerous Conditions in Gynecology” from the Faculty of Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In her master’s thesis, she investigated the effect of immunostimulatory formulations in women with low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LGSIL) of the cervix and their correlation with the vaginal microbiome.
Currently, she is pursuing a second Master’s degree in “Applied Clinical Microbiology” at the Faculty of Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where her thesis examines the role of the normal endometrial flora in the outcomes of assisted reproduction.
She is presently undertaking research training within the framework of the European research program NESTOR (“Cross-Sectoral Alliance as the Key for Innovation-Driven Business Success”), which connects academic and industrial sectors and is hosted by Maastricht University Medical Center and the University of Tartu.
